The High Schoolers 3rd Checklist
Passions To Pathways class
P2P teaches high schoolers how to reflect on, identify, and connect their internal motivations to their college and career aspirations. We flip college and career so students first see how they can apply their passions in the real world and then how to use college or university to help get them there!
P2P is taught in 4 stages...
1. Reflect on Passions - Students take a Passion Inventory with their Passion Coach that gives them self-awareness of their passions and patterns in their passions. Students organize their passions in a Motivation Table.
2. Identify Passions - Students use their Motivation Table to create Passion Challenges (PCs) with their Passion Coach. PCs enable students to test out new skills related to their passions, uncover intersections of their passions and strengths, and identify passions they are committed to.
3. Connect Passions to Careers - Students work with their Passion Coach to research and identify career domains and professions that connect to their committed passions.
4. Connect Careers to College Majors - Students work with their Passion Coach to research and identify college majors and programs that lead to their top career domains and professions.
Video Clips from P2P
“Passion Coaching has given us real insight from the student's perspective on what they enjoy to do. That has enabled us to tailor programming and support students more holistically outside of academics. It has also enabled us to make connections with students who are usually very reserved and quiet and don't say much in class. It has allowed us to focus on the whole student instead of just academics."
-Dr. Nunez, Student Life Director, College Track
